Our team works in close partnership with Local Authorities, to quantify the impact and social value of their existing tree management activities. We then calculate an average cost, associated social impact, and Social Value ROI (“SROI”) per tree per year. Those values are agreed and recognised by the Local Authority procurement teams.
When sponsoring a tree for one year, you will be able to claim the impact and social value associated to that tree immediately. You will also be able to attribute a name to your tree for the duration of the sponsorship.
Carbon Heroes collects your payment on behalf of the Local Authority, manages the open registry and impact reporting, and delivers impact certificates on behalf of the Local Authority.
FORWARD FUNDING
MODEL
When you sponsor a tree, the cost and associated impact are calculated according to the activities completed by the Local Authority in the past year. This value is refreshed every year, and agreed with the teams of each Local Authority, in accordance with their tree estates datasets, greening strategies and priorities.
Your financial contribution will therefore cover the future finance for your chosen trees for the next year. It will essentially augment the Local Authority's greening budget for the year ahead.
At any point, your account area will provide a status of your sponsorship, and confirmation that your chosen trees have effectively been taken care of.
FUNDING LARGER
PROJECTS
Beyond individual tree sponsorship, we also offer a range of larger projects such as urban forests, in partnership with Earthwatch. Those projects typically require larger, bespoke funding amounts, and involve hundreds of hours of volunteering, or maintenance commitments for 1-2 years after planting.
